The problem isn't that believing abortion is murder and that abstinence before marriage is inconsistent, the problem is in expecting everyone to believe in the same way and be perfect. Not every option is feasible or reliable or acceptable to everyone.
The problem with waiting periods for abortion is that the longer you wait to have the abortion, the greater the risk of complications is. Low income women may delay having the procedure to raise money for it (abortion is not often covered by insurance and never by medicaid)in the first place, so adding on that extra waiting period gives them an unequal burden of medical complications. And abortion is the only medical procedure with such a waiting period mandated by law that I am aware.
