It might take the fire dept 30 minutes to get there, and it might burn for an hour before anyone notices the smoke, but they're going to come. But most people just don't live anywhere *THAT* rural. Those places are usually hunting lodges.
I see your point, but I think things that are essential to our society, such as emergency services and education, should come from tax money. If someone wants to go free enterprise and offer a better service, by god do it. We've got private security firms on top of the police service. go for it. But I wouldn't ever suggest eradicating the police because it's expensive. *shrug* difference in view points, I guess.
