A fire department in Tennessee charges a fee to people in their jurisdiction. If they do not pay the fee, they do not receive services from the fire department. Even if their house is burning to the ground.
So what's the legality of this? What's the morality of this? Do you think the republican county government is responsible for this policy lasting so long?
Personally, it makes me glad I'm crunchy. I hate paying taxes but it's for services like fire and rescue that I'm glad for it. It think it's unconscionable to charge people for emergency services outside of federal, state, and county taxes.
