i woke up this morning to a completely fucked desktop.

anyone heard of the Security Tool shit? it ruins everything, then pops up with multiple warnings about infections and malware and all sorts of crap. it shuts down other programs, so you can't run anything against it. the desktop is gone, i even had to get out my backup mouse because it wouldn't let the drivers run - even lost my keyboard once.

the solution? buy the "full version" with your credit card IMMEDIATELY! OH NOES!

i've been working on it for hours. i managed to get safemode running, and ran a scan, but it's locked itself. but sometimes the simplest solutions are the best - it dropped a shortcut on the desktop. since the desktop dies after it loads, it was just chance that i noticed it. chased down the exe, and there were two of them. one i deleted, the other told me i didn't have permission. and that was the one being a jackass.

.........so i changed the filename. restart, and i have control of my computer again.

i'm on my laptop now, since i'm running a full scan with another program i found on the desktop. that'll take another hour or so, and then i've got a third lined up. i'm gonna kill that bastard if it takes me all weekend.

aside from a full system crash when i was in middle school, this is the worst i've ever been hit. so far it looks like i'll be able to salvage everything.

just try googling "Security Tool" and you'll see what i mean. thank god i've got a second computer to find out things.
