The strength exercises are really only intended as a starting point - get myself into a routine that I can stick to, as well as getting my flabby ass to the point where I'm physically capable of doing an aerobic workout. As it stands right now, walking up a single flight of stairs is almost enough to make my thighs scream in pure burning agony!
Once I get into the routine and get my strength up (both raw strength as well as muscular endurance) I'll add something aerobic. You are exactly right - without getting my heartrate up (actually, 10 push-ups did exactly that this morning - tells you the kind of shape I'm in!) I won't lose nearly enough weight.
