So, with losing my employer-supplied health insurance, I've had to seek individual coverage. I found it, and after being quoted $283/mo for a $1000 deductible plan (including dental coverage), I said yes and gave them all my information.
That prompted them to come back today with a counter-offer, raising the premium to $317/mo, based on my build (height/weight). I'm 5'9" and about 220 lbs, which is certainly heavy (and, per my BMI score of 32.5, is within the "obese" category), but I'm in pretty good health and am certainly not unhealthily fat.
Anyway, that's now a financial motivator - to the tune of $35/mo - to finally lose some of this weight. My diet will need some clean-up of course (more fruits and veggies, less pizza), but I've accumulated some exercise equipment over the past year with the intention of working out - so, time to start that! I'll need to come up with a work-out regimen that I can stick to, and then stick to it.
I'll let y'all know how things progress.
