The Democrats have to be careful about overtly criticising their selected candidate. It would be very easy for the right-controlled media (which is a very large section of it) to portray that as weakness in the Dems and turn some voters off them. It is undoubtedly true for everyone in the Democratic party machine that it's better for Obama to be elected than any non-Democratic candidate, and it's too late for them to be bringing in another Democratic candidate for 2012.
They certainly won't be poking the media about two party hegemony right now because it's working in their favour – they are the lesser of two evils and likely to win, whereas a genuinely plural presidential race could see them embarrassed if a credible leftist candidate appeared.
One hopes that they are criticising him about similar things to what you mention on here behind closed doors. Some of what he's done has really been a betrayal of the support base that helped him win and they can't be happy about that.
