than electric. Heat from combustion is > heat from electrical resistance. So, that's good. I'm stuck with electric, and I hate what it does to my bills.
I've heard the idea before about turning it off nightly with a timer, but it strikes me as questionable whether it'll save very much, since maintaining a temperature is less intensive than bringing the water up to the desired temperature. Now if you were going away for a week or more, I'd say definitely turn it off for that time. But nightly, I just don't know if it's worth it. Don't know how to calculate that, either, I'm afraid.
