I do a walk every day from work if the weather's up for it (about an hour including sitting around eating a sandwich – hey that's what lunch hour is for =) ) and it makes me feel much better in the afternoon, as well as having health benefits.

You're doing the right thing starting small and not outfacing yourself, as well.

I hope you start to feel the improvement in your fitness soon, and begin to appreciate the outdoors (easier if the walk is in a nice place, that one!) so it doesn't just feel like a fitness chore.
