I have a fundamental problem with laws being changed and taking effect retroactively -- for example, maybe today it's legal to do X, but tomorrow they make X a crime and make it take effect yesterday, making you a criminal retroactively!
I know this isn't the same thing, but it is the same idea -- something bad happened, the general consensus is that current law isn't sufficient, so we reach backwards in time to alter the laws as they apply to a past event! That's just wrong to me.
