laptops excluded as well.

technically, i build it - none of the original parts are left. i had a custom Dell as a present from my parents, and around 2002 i decided to just upgrade piece by piece instead of buying a new one.

i don't know why it took me so long to get to that point - my first computer was an AT&T-built laptop running W3.0, black and white screen. the first computer i used was one of the green-screen ones that my mom used for accounting. i'd had several in the meantime (i learned .cfg and .bat files because i had a laptop with a cracked screen and it didn't have enough ram to run Quake unless it didn't boot W3.1).

but technically, the first computer i built is the one i'm using right now. i started switching out graphics cards, sound cards, then moved on to the case (Dells are HELL to move to a standard case)......nothing of the old one is left now. i got a new MB and chipset last winter, i'm on my third OS, new 2G of ram (started with 512), on my third graphics card and my fifth soundcard, with the switch to a SATA MB i got a new 1T hard drive, the other one is just a backup of my own music files (gone through several versions of cakewalk as well), and that was a replacement itself.

so i guess i haven't built one from scratch, but maybe i qualify?
