It's just a discount plan, with a rider (?) for dental and eye care. So if I develop any serious health issues, I'm still pretty much screwed...but it's better than nothing, and doctor's offices tend to give discounts to the insured even if their insurance doesn't cover the procedure. The good news is, if I lose a little more than 20 pounds, I can get reevaluated in a year and try again for the preferred rate. Assuming I don't get a job with health benefits (which isn't a lot to assume). So hopefully I don't develop any "preexisting conditions" within that year.
But really? $950 a month for the two of you? That really blows. What's the preexisting condition that made you need COBRA, if you don't mind me asking?
