I don't send texts after 9pm. Most people I know realize I HATE getting them after 10pm. It's rude. If it's worth saying, it can wait till morning. I feel the same way about David getting texts and fortunately so does he. They wake us up. I'm a night owl by nature but I have to be up at 5am to get to work. So on my nights where I don't have to be up in the morning, I stay up later. But since people have no way of knowing which night i'll be going to bed early or which night I'll be staying up late, 9:30 really should be the cutoff.
The same thing for night and swing shift. I've worked all of them. I don't text people after 9pm or before 7am (9am for normal people. 7am is family members and other friends I know wake up early).
The exceptions are when I'm out with a group of people and people within that group are contacting me, i.e., Kim telling me the parking garage near the bar we're going to is full and to head on down to the next one.
It isn't that it isn't allowed. It's just rude. I think people are too accessible with their phones anyway. unless it's an emergency, there just isn't a reason to call or text that late. David and I are long distance and I don't call him after 9pm unless I've talked to him earlier and he's been forewarned and given the ok.
As far as the opposite sex goes? I only worry because David is oblivious and he doesn't always realize when a woman is hitting on him. So I know his intentions are good, but theirs aren't always nice or innocent. I've spoken to one or two women about my discomfort with their level of familiarity with him. Fat lot of good it did for one chick, but at least she was forewarned and couldn't claim ignorance when it all hit the fan. 90% of the time it's just someone asking for help on homework. It's up to him as to whether he responds. Usually he does because he feels guilty blowing people off, but he ends the text with "I'm sleeping, I'll call you in the morning"
