I think I'd be able to swallow it more if I truly believed that taking *away* the tax advantage would lead to a quality universal health system that would actually make my life MORE flexible in that I'd no longer have to choose a job simply because one offers health insurance and another doesn't.
I agree with that logic too - higher-end employment shouldn't be the only conduit to good health care.
This is one of the PRIMARY reasons why I've never taken the risk to go out and do business on my own as well.
As it is right now - I have to pick a job with less pay because the only way I can get health insurance for my wife with a chronic disease (rheumatoid arthritis) and my son (typ 1 diabetes) is if the health insurance HAS to provide coverage under an employer plan. Otherwise I'm in this place where I make too much money to get medicaid for my family but not NEARLY enough to pay for my own insurance.... which - by the way - they'll refuse to cover my wife and son no matter how much I'm willing to pay anyway.
