I wasn't happy with the concept of the show for showing NJ in a bad light, however what can I say... Seaside Heights is definitely a party town, and it is full of guidos. There is a certain shore "culture" of young people working on the boardwalk and going to clubs, getting into fights, hooking up, etc. So, that is accurate. Shore locals hate it! It's people from upstate and NY that swell the population during the summer months and act crazy. "Bennies" are what the locals call them. That term was used in one of the episodes. I think it's stupid, though--the shore relies heavily on tourism afterall.
What endeared me somewhat to the show was that most of the people on it are actually quite insecure. If they were just muscleheads and bimbos putting on an act the whole time, it would be a terrible show.
