That said, it doesn't sit right with many people that there are some Americans who make more money in one month than a median earner will make in a lifetime, and yet pays a much lower tax rate than a doctor pays.
This is the rare exception -- when you look at the actual statistics instead of one-off anecdotes (and peel away the bald-faced lies), it's just simply not true that the wealthier pay less in tax.
Could the tax code be reformed? Certainly.
Should it be? Absolutely.
Do we need to invent half-truths about a fictitious group that makes so much money they pay so much less taxes? Absolutely not.
