and i think we've opened up the entire chicken/egg debate.
i'm assuming the Logrus is primal Chaos, just as the Eye of Chaos is primal Order. order arises out of chaos? or, even better, chaos and order cannot exist without each other (Beyond Good And Evil, anyone?). i want to know what's beyond the Rim, as well. the geography seems a bit strange - if the Courts are where the Logrus has it's main power, why does it border Chaos on one side and [private] on the other?
here's an idea - the Logrus isn't primal, either. it's close, but something must be beyond the Rim that bears the same relation to the Logrus as the JoJ does towards the Pattern.
And the spikards? Come on. Things were way simpler in the first five books... I wish there were a project for an Amber [private] like there are LotR, Dragonlance, and Forgotten Realms [private]s.
yeah. spikards, logrus magic, the Keep, the Pattern/Logrus ghosts - for all Corwin was a badass, the later five shrink his universe to nothing compared with what's out there. and that's even without the interstitial space [private] wandered through.
man, i still don't get why zelazny isn't normally considered up there with heinlein and asimov....they'd make a fucking awesome triumverate.
Heinlein: libertarian sexual politics and sticking the finger to the man!
Asimov: physics is my bitch!
Zelazny: myth as fact!
*sigh*
