First of all, the NDAA has nothing to do with prisoners of war. So POWs are out.
Secondly, if Obama's administration really wanted it for that, Judge Forrest gave them more than ample opportunity to do so, including literally inviting them to say that American journalists doing nothing more than exercising their First Amendment rights would not be subject to indefinite detention under the NDAA -- and they refused to do so! Instead, they've fought tooth and nail against a US suit in US federal court against US plaintiffs who claim they fear being indefinitely detained -- never once did the administration say they wouldn't be for exercising their First Amendment rights!
When Obama refuses to say that he won't wield the NDAA against free speech and free press, that has a chilling effect on both, and is clearly not about POWs in Afghanistan, no matter what their press releases spin it as.
