If the roles were reversed, if that were Israel being occupied and blockaded by Palestine, the UN wouldn't hesitate to jump in with peacekeepers and put an end to the atrocity. But since it's Israel at the helm, a nation created by the UN itself by seizing Palestinian land and then feigning shock and anger when the Palestinians dared to defend their homelands, the international community can barely be roused to so much as utter a denouncement of Israel's actions.
Any other country doing exactly what Israel has been doing for decades would be decried as a "rogue nation" committing criminal, possibly even terrorist acts upon civilian populations. It continues to surprise and disgust me that Israel is allowed -- and, in fact, tacitly supported -- to keep committing atrocities against the Palestinians.
