Some government officials do bad things, just like some people in all walks of life, but trying to hijack a case where that has happened to make a general anti-government agenda is dirty politics.
I'm not forwarding an anti-government agenda. If you know anything about my politics, you know I'm not anti-government. Instead, my point is simply that examples like this -- examples of government entities flagrantly ignoring the law to pursue their own agendas -- are what do drive anti-government agendas.
Other examples abound -- off the top of my head I can think of Watergate, the Pentagon Papers, Bush's WMDs, and Iran-Contra -- and I'm simply stating that this case will add further fuel to the anti-government fires.
