... to the extent of being paranoid about data recovery? I mean, companies with commercially confidential data, sure, those disks need proper disposal. But I would never consider bothering with erasure before disposing of an old non working computer.
I've always wondered why a single low level write of zeroes everywhere wasn't enough.
