Sometimes apps will freeze up for 5-20 seconds. This happens as often as several times an hour. Windows will say "not responding", but eventually the app will come back and work normally.
This happens most often, but not exclusively, when switching from one app in the foreground to another. The one coming to the foreground will freeze. This makes me think it's a RAM issue. In other words, the app's data was cached onto the hard drive and must be read back into RAM. Does that sound right? I usually have multiple RAM-hungry apps open at once.
However Task Manager never says I'm using 100% of physical memory. Right now, for instance, it's 76%. I have 4 GB, for reference. If bumping it up to 8 GB will solve this problem, I'd definitely do it.
