Beefier processor + mechanical hard drive, or weaker processor + SSD?

I lean toward the latter. The hard drive seems to be the limiting factor most of the time, not the CPU. Yes?

I'd think I'd get better performance out of a Core i3 + SSD than a Core i5 + mechanical. In particular, what I care about is fast IDE performance. Things like opening and closing projects, switching between files, code completion, refactoring ops, etc. need to be lightning fast.
