I've bought from newegg, too. Good stuff. xoxide.com has some cool stuff, especially their fan selection. For price comparison, I use pricewatch.com.
I'm usually an AMD man when it comes to processors, but I'm very happy with my recent Intel Core 2 Duo chip. You can get one of the cheaper ones and be very pleased with it. I usually order CPU/motherboard combos. I've been happy with ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards.
Don't skimp on the power supply, even though it's the least sexy component. The extra $20 is worth it to get a good brand. I like Enermax. You can't compare power supplies by wattage, because cheap ones inflate their numbers. I'd rather have an Enermax rated at 350W than a cheapo brand rated at 450W. If your PS is heavy, you got a good one.
