A particular reason or two for one general law that is agreed upon by a diverse group of people to assist in the creation of laws governing the diverse group of people is that the laws it generates, though they may not sit well with everyone, are a... logical... product of the general law which everyone does agree on...
Having a general law that is agreed upon by a diverse group of people and that generates laws which are a logical product of it should mean that the diverse group of people should abide by those laws...
Laws facilitate coexistence. Without laws of any kind (call them whatever you want) there would be chaos...
I don't think true, complete chaos could ever come about because I think that everyone would have to be truly insane for such a thing to happen and I don't think even one can be truly and completely insane...
I think that one, who is not truly insane, observing the truly insane in true chaos would find at least one [aspect] of it unpleasureable and this unpleasure should right away start to create rules in this one...
Yes. I do desire to create or at least help create a great culture that encompassess many but I also desire a more personal culture which I pretty much completely create (so that I don't have to compromise as much) and which a relatively small amount of others just agree with. And I think it comes down to wanting to have... a mirror... I desire, pretty much, to see myself in others. To be around others who are like me. Like, I'd like to see my culture members in their [Starrider] uniforms (if I ultimately decide that this is the culture I want, which I think I might because I see the potential for greater simplicity of structure in it and that is very appealing).
My [Whole] society, though not really worked out, is hopefully one that many share since it should allow for my [Starrider] culture and for many other cultures.
Our nature seems to indicate that everyone should attempt to become individually strong to be able to defend themselves since at any moment it is possible that we could turn on one another. One knowing that an other is as strong as they are can cause one to question their possible attack. MAD... is very wise.
I think it may be impossible for one to be completely self-sufficient, at least without giving up many desires. The more incapable one is of doing things, they desire, on their own the more need one has for others who are capable of doing those things.
If my main desire is to travel in space from this place to that place and most of the time to be alone and I am incapable of accomplishing this on my own and of other desires I sometimes want then I need to seek others who share the same main desire, so that it is not compromised as we create a society that facilitates our coexisting.
The acceptance, by one, of a society is ultimately determined by pleasure.
A society helps one and one helps the society.
Find others who share most of your desire (the less you have to compromise the happier you should be). The coming together with these others can then result in the creation of a society which can then facilitate each one's desires...
Each individual has there own individual morality. A society, made up of individuals, should have a morality that's made up from each individual...
A society (should) facilitate the desires of the individuals who make up the society...
The more desires each of the individuals of a society share the more the society should be able to facilitate each individuals's desire since many of each's desires do not have to be compromised to find the common ones...
Hmph! A compelling reason for a society is that one may need only provide one function for the society and in return the society provides many functions for the one...
If many who are emerging in a society are becoming very different from the rest and more has to be compromised by everyone to find common desires, similar groupings of the very different should be allowed and encouraged and assisted in forming their own unique and seperate societies. The less one has to compromise the happier one should be.
