Yeah, we're still discussing spoilers, folks!

*Madge: Good point. She herself was a woefully under-developed character, to the point of really just being slightly more than scenery, but you're exactly right in how she helps to develop Katniss' character.

*Buying the pin: I think Prim liked looking at the cakes, but had enough of her big sister's practicality to never ask for them. I dunno, though, we're discussing hypotheticals about fictional characters, I don't think we're going to get anywhere on that. :-P I do dislike that she had bought the pin, as opposed to it being a gift (even if they changed who gave it to her, to keep Madge entirely out of the picture).

*The Hob: Well, black market or not, it sounds like they did make it important. Illegal or no, the burning of an important social and economic center of the District would still be quite significant. And, hey, all they really need is to have some arrogant ass of a Peacekeeper shout something like "This is an illegal black market!" as they do so -- those of us who really know about the Hob will understand, while the "ignorant" movie-goer will still get a feel of how controlling, arrogant, heartless, and pompous the Capitol is.

*Gale: Okay, he didn't have much page time in the books, but c'mon, that's all he got in the movie? That's going to make setting up his character's importance in the later movies a lot more difficult, especially to do so without looking like some cheesy afterthought!

*Mutts: Hm. This greatly concerns me, as well...

*Rue: Wait, District 8(?) revolts when Rue dies? NO! That's not how it happened, and that's a significant point! The discontent really began (well, rose to a head) when Katniss and Peeta beat the Capitol with those berries, not because of the mere death of the 1,760-something-th tribute! Please tell me they at least kept the berries?

*Katniss' ear: Meh, I don't think the Capitol's medical prowess is all that significant, except as one facet of their technological prowess, which can easily be demonstrated in other ways. Good point on the prestige of the victors, though, although again that can be shown in other ways.

*Tribute trinkets: Definitely dislike that the pin is now a contraband item, as that shows a weakness in the Capitol's micro-management control, as opposed to the Capitol allowing the trinket as a weakness due to their arrogance. And didn't Rue's trinket play some role in the bond between she and Katniss? I can't even remember what her trinket was, but I seem to recall it was significant. And, yeah, Peeta's locket in the Quarter Quell is absolutely significant! It's not the same impact if he just says stuff about Katniss' family, the significance was that his one piece of home he chose to bring with him was Katniss' loved ones -- that was a powerful moment, and now it's probably gonna get cut altogether!

why the fuck did anyone feel the need to break up ... Twilight

No, the real question there is, why the fuck did anyone feel the need to buy the Twilight books in the first place? Or really, how in the fuck did that rubbish ever get published? I'd read Danielle Fucking Steele before I'd inflict that brain-damaged offal on myself!
