I really think it's true. Case in point-My best friends family is totally religious. Several years ago a very close friend of ours died due to AIDS related pneumonia and her mother made a comment about it being God's will because he was gay. Cris was devastated and disappointed to realize her mother has those kinds of feelings. It really turned her off religion, even though she'd grown up with the word and love and personal relationship with God. Now she has struggles with God and church, though another good friend of ours is trying to convert her back to the "right" path, heh.
Thing is, her mother isn't some horrible person. It's what she really believed because religious people are preaching that kind sentiment. Of course, she goes to a weird kind of church where they do that tongue speak or whatever.
