Manufacturers have been promising lower prices are just around the corner, yet the cost of a 60 watt equivalent seems stuck between $20-$30 per bulb. Granted, even at those prices they'll pay for themselves eventually, but it's not exactly a price point where you can go to the store an buy half a dozen of them to replace your existing bulbs. If I could get 60 watt equivalents at around $10 each, I think I'd start moving over to LED. But currently the swirly CFLs are just a much better deal (hate the mercury content, though).
Also, I had to LOL at this LED bulb ad I just saw:
