Bush is considered a populist by some, not because he supports populist programs but because he affects a folksy demeanor that plays well in red state television broadcasts. If the 2004 election confirmed anything, perhaps it was that image truly trumps substance. Do you think so? And do you think that working class families will one day again be energized not by images, rhetoric, and stagecraft, but by the economic issues that impact their lives? Or is that asking too much?
