Job creation record: Bush vs. Obama, a graph

Steady public sector job losses have been a constant feature during Obama's four years, aside from brief census work. According to one source I've seen, the nation's unemployment number would be fully one percentage point lower if not for job losses in the public sector.

Month after month, however, the private sector has been adding jobs. What I hadn't realized is that under Obama we've had a faster private sector jobs recovery than under Bush. Public sector hiring/firing obscures this.

Neither Bush nor Obama had a strong job creation record, for sure. However, this chart is just another example that runs exactly counter to the Republican narrative about how policies play out and affect the economy.
