Barack Obama has been in office for one year. Now is a good time to reflect on what he's accomplished. Gay rights, global warming, health care, Iraq, youth rights, energy and oil policy, taxes, drug legalization, social security, torture, civil liberties, immigration, whatever your issue of interest be, report on it.
I'm going to discuss drug legalization right now. Barack Obama has ended the federal prosecution of people who use medicinal marijuana where the states make it legal. This is a big thumbs-up to him, as he's accomplished more for drug legalization in one year than has been accomplished in Clinton and Bush's whole presidencies put together! He's said he's not for out-and-out legalization (i.e. recreational use), but with over 80% of Californians now supporting legal weed, he'll probably make recreational marijuana use legal across America before the end of his second term. The frustrated election of Scott Brown may inspire him to start moving to the left and growing teeth.
