I had this exact feeling today, when I a) heard the disingenuous charge from McCain that Obama called Palin a pig, and b) saw the McCain ad that says Obama pushed for sex-ed classes for kindergarteners.
What fools we were for thinking McCain was better than this. Really, it's the same garbage. Same gutter tactics. But they work. The Republicans will always use them, because they work on the moron demographic. Nobody ever lost an election catering to the moron demographic, and the Republicans are experts at it. Today I began to doubt whether Obama can win against the slime.
