Thunder still fresh in the distance
Let’s go for a walk
I’m out the door,
I’m walking alone through midnight
mist coiling off the street, hanging
In the damp air
Tangled in the sodium
haze emanating from the streetlights.

The clouds will continue to advance
Through the night,
fury of the storm
To be spent upon distant places,
A wasteland of stars smattered overhead,
And a few fallen, reborn among diamond
Remnants of the deluge,
Every tree, every branch feverishly masquerading
Infinite wealth in the moonlight.
