BABYSITTERS
Whether you need a babysitter for the evening, or for an afternoon, these individuals are there to care for your child in your home, on your terms. Make sure the sitter is CPR certified, and that they have completed a safety course through the local Red Cross. Check their references, and their background.
CHILD CARE
"Child Care" is usually a "day care" or "child care facility", where several children are cared for at the same time by adults, the head of which (the Provider) is licensed through a State agency. Again, check any references they are willing to give you, and be wary of any provider who cannot or will not provide you with references. Child Action is an organization that allows you to cross-reference a provider/center name with any complaints. Their website and telephone number are invaluable to a parent trying to choose care.
