It's a song about European whites colonizing the world and subjugating other peoples.
The world is my expense
The cost of my desire
Jesus blessed me with its future
And I protect it with fire
Europeans of old, in their greed, desired the whole world. Religion was used, in part, as justification--a Christian people were meant to oversee God's earth and convert the heathens. "I protect it with fire" alludes to the willingness to use force/violence in this endeavor.
So raise your fists and march around
Mocking those who protest and object to their land being overrun.
Dont dare take what you need
Protest all you want, but don't actually accomplish anything. Don't make any gains.
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Lock up or kill anyone who resists the expanding European empire. Eliminate their leaders, destroy their independence movements. Sell the rest on the belief that they'll gain under European ways of life.
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
Indigenous populations are meant to be subservient to their white masters leading them boldly into the future. Again, don't resist, or you'll perish.
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name
Children of other cultures are more easily seduced by emperialist culture. They won't retain the values of their parents and keep to the old culture.
Hey!
Hey!
Sleep now in the fire
Just lay down and let us overrun you.
The lie is my expense
The scope with my desire
The party blessed me with its future
And i protect it with fire
Similar to a previous verse, but now with lies and political parties. I suppose this is to suggest that the empiralist ways are still ongoing in the modern age.
I am the nina, the pinta, the santa maria
The noose and the rapist, the fields overseer
The agents of orange
The priests of hiroshima
The cost of my desire
Sleep now in the fire
Europeans liked to believe that the world was their birthright, and that they were "civilizing" the populations they encountered, but this verse tells a darker tale.
For it's the end of history
It's caged and frozen still
History is "settled" at this point, and the Europeans won. Or at least, that's what you're meant to believe.
There is no other pill to take
So swallow the one
That makes you ill
Just accept that you lost; it's your only option now.
Forget any idea that your land was taken, don't try to fight any exploitation. Deal with it and don't rock the boat.
