In 1999, my band Red Cilantro recorded a song I wrote called "Vague Resonations". This song is the opener to my rock musical, Angst: A Camera Into the Life of the Bittersweet Generation.
Jason Countryman and James Landau (I) are the vocalists, Jason Countryman plays guitar and bass, and Brett Couric plays drums on this alternative song. It was the only song Red Cilantro ever recorded with full instrumentation.
Well, now the song is up, at http://lankyland.com/vagueres.wav
Thanks, [private]! Everyone check out how this song sounds!
Consider this song embedded in this post, so this post should be rated as a rating for my song. If I get lots of 3's, I'll interpret that as meaning I have a mediocre song.
The lyrics:
Vague resonations . . . resonating
In my brain, while meditating . . .
Grey air and facial hair, one part of day
Noncare spread everywhere, local café
Hair mousse below bernouse, go all the way
Dress loose just to seduce, what else to say?
Taiwanese factories, modern suburb
Disease and STD's, soft drinks of herb
Cellphones and pheromones, minds are acerb
Monotones for human clones, strongly disturbed
Latex, protected sex, maybe next year
Gen-X and dialects, six-pack of beer
Hashish is bad, capisce? -- that's all I hear
Empty niche for nouveaux riches, where to live near?
Vague resonations resonating
Reverber - a - ting . . .
Grey air and facial hair, one part of day
Noncare spread everywhere, local café
Hair mousse below bernouse, go all the way
Dress loose just to seduce, what else to say?
Taiwanese factories, modern suburb
Disease and STD's, soft drinks of herb
Cellphones and pheromones, minds are acerb
Monotones for human clones, strongly disturbed
Cassettes of Morissette's, that's all I know
Fishnets and spare barrettes, that's all she'll show
Futon and rock icon, I want to blow
Neon, hold it on, nowhere to go
Long walks in Birkenstocks, fight the mainstream
Clorox, progressive blocks, as deep as they seem
Thrift shop and halter top, music regime
Mindless pop, make it stop, let off the steam, now . . .
[Instrumental]
A dipstick with rhetoric, by any name
A flipped chick who's got to stick to aspartame
Your fake perms, that confirms who's really to blame
Oxy, derms, uncertain terms, and more of the same
Long walks in Birkenstocks, fight the mainstream
Clorox, progressive blocks, as deep as they seem
Thrift shop and halter top, music regime
Mindless pop, make it stop, let off the steam, now, yeah!
