So I went to see Eminem, 50 Cent and Lil Jon in concert this past Friday. I definitely had a great time. Here are some comments about it...
- Lil Jon's set was way too short...only about 25 minutes long. Plus, the Ying Yang Twins weren't there! But besides that, it was definitely a good way to get the crowd revved up for the two headliners.
- 50 Cent almost died...ok, not really. But at the beginning of his set, he does a stunt where he comes flying off of the top of the stage and landing in the middle, right next to where a microphone is...this is all done by wires, of course. Well, they missed...and he landed into the crowd. Immediately, about 5 bodyguards dived in the crowd to protect him...including one that fell and hit his head on the edge of the stage; I thought he was dead, but he got up and pushed a couple of fans out the way.
Anyways...50's set was great...hit after hit after hit...Banks, Buck, Yayo, M.O.P., Olivia; they all had their own little sets...but the real treat was seeing Mobb Deep. It was almost like going back in time.
Things were going nicely...the crowd was into it(including the underage girls in the row in front of me acting like they're auditioning for the hustler club)...but then...50 kept looking backstage, almost as if to see if he had to end the set early...and unfortunately, he did...he left before "Wanksta", "In Da Club", or "21 Questions"...
- After a 45-minute delay, Eminem got on stage. Now I will say that I am not the biggest Eminem fan. With the thunder and lightning going crazy during the delay, I even considered just leaving early. But I'm glad I stayed...although, I wasn't familiar with about 20% of his set, he definitely brings the energy to a concert. There were so many people there, it was amazing.
Let's see...D-12 sucks compared to G-Unit...but it's ok...they tried hard.
I expected 50 Cent to come out and do his duets with Eminem during the set....especially seeing that he had done the same earlier on in the tour in California...but alas...50 Cent wasn't there.
Eminem ended the show with "Lose Yourself" as his finale. Makes sense...it's probably his biggest hit...even got an Academy Award, I think. What was also nice was that D-12, Lil Jon and his crew all came out for the end. It showed unity...except for the fact that (again) 50 Cent and company wasn't there...
- Other things...fights...I saw one in the pit between 50 and Eminem's sets...one almost broke out in the row right in front of me...and two fights broke out after the concert was over. All of the fights were between women, by the way.
It's quite depressing that the only person who talked to me was this 50-something lady hitting on me. In all fairness..she looked like she was in her 30's, but then she mentioned her 23-year-old daughter...
Overall, it was a great experience though. I'd go again. :)
