The idea has potential, but the author went very on-the-surface with it. The writing is simplistic, the same pet peeve I have about most YA literature (you DO NOT need to talk down to a YA audience--why do so few authors realize this???). The characters don't seem particularly interesting or fleshy.
Am I just too early to know how good it really is? Do I need to stick with it? Or is it just another blah example of sludge that passes for literature?
