I just weighed myself for the first time in over a year. The results are not pretty:
At 5'9", I weigh 263.0 lbs. This puts my BMI at 38.8, well into the Obese category. (And, yes, I know BMI is a shitty indicator of health -- it's not entirely without merit, however.)
A better measure than BMI is WHR (waist-to-hip) ratio. For me (a man), a WHR above 1.0 is "high risk" (for diabetes and other disease), while 0.95 and below is "low risk". My hips are 46 inches, my waist 47.5, for a WHR of 1.03 -- unhealthy. Not hugely so, I don't think, but then again I don't know how much such a measure is supposed to vary.
A bit over a year ago I was doing weekly weigh-ins; I'm going to be doing that again, and maybe with my increased physical activity (I've now added biking to my walking) I can finally see these numbers go down.
