So, this thing has appeared on the inside of my upper thigh, about 3 or 4 inches below my groin. It hurts. I don't know what it is.
Visibly, I can see a pair of red spots; they look a bit like pimples that haven't fully formed yet (i.e. no head, still mostly flush with the surrounding skin) or have been popped recently. One of them is centered on a small area of skin (roughly half an inch in diameter) that is stretched taught; it's roughly circular, although there's one side that's almost more of a line, kind of making the overall shape like a balloon with a string tied to it. The area is visibly swollen. There's no discoloration at all aside from the two red spots, which may not even be related to the thing at all (my thighs seem to always have pimples, something that started happening as my weight increased -- I'm not terribly obese, but I certainly do have some extra weight to lose).
Feeling it, it feels like a hugely over-sized pimple -- it feels about 1 - 1.5 inches in diameter, and is somewhat painful to the touch. It feels like an overstuffed sack just under the surface of my skin, and I could swear that pressing down on one side cause the other to raise as if it were a big solid disk (but I'm not going to do that again, because that hurts!). It hurts, like I would expect an over-sized pimple to hurt, and mostly just when it's touched.
I'm really tempted to just try lancing the thing and seeing what comes out, but last time I lanced something it just oozed blood for a couple of days and hurt like hell (whereas it was just kind of there before, and if I hadn't seen it would never have known about it).
Anyone have any idea what this thing might be, and/or what I should be doing to try to treat it? [private] thinks I should go to a doctor to get it checked out, but that doesn't seem necessary to me -- at least not yet.
