I was exceedingly frustrated with the controls and the overly-frantic gameplay (it's no fun dying over and over to endless hordes of minions a la zergling rush from a cheating opponent) at first, but after starting over on easy mode I finally had the opportunity to learn the controls at a more reasonable pace, and am now really enjoying the game for the most part. Some things I still don't like (the second boss fight with a familiar old-timer from the first film was horrid), and honestly if it wasn't Ghostbusters I'd probably have put it aside never to return to it again. But it is Ghostbusters, the sequel I've waited for for literally most of my life! Even if the game play were shit, I'd play through it just to get the story.
