Her mom writes to Jersey Shore Hurricane News on Facebook:
As you may recall, our daughter, Emily Pierce, 10, from East Texas has been operating a lemon-AID stand in our small town and surrounding communities to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
She started on November 3 and opened for 'business' nearly every weekend through November and December.
I am proud to report that she has concluded her fundraising journey, raising $900.00 for this very worthy cause! She even got her school involved by selling pickles there to the 4th and 5th graders.
100% of this money is being sent to AID in your recovery. The majority raised will go to our human friends in need, but we will also be sending a portion to our animal friends in shelters that were also impacted by this terrible storm.
As Faith Hill sings, "It bleeds, it scars, but it shines when times get hard and you can't break an American Heart".
May God continue to bless you.
Much love from some friends in Texas,
Doug, Lisa and Emily Pierce
