Looking at these before-and-after satellite images is kind of a mixed bag: Some of them don't look too bad (like the first one; yeah, there's a chunk of the pier (or whatever that is) missing, but the rest of the area looks largely undamaged), but others... I had to keep flipping the second one back and forth, looking for identifiable features, to convince myself they didn't screw up and overlay the wrong images -- it's literally (as in, literally literally, not figuratively literally!) almost unrecognizable due to the devastation!
The "near Brielle, New Jersey" (boats that were in the water now piled atop each other in the streets!) and "Mantoloking, New Jersey" (look! a brand new river!!) images were particularly striking to me, as showing just how damaging Sandy was (is? has she blown over yet or is she still going?).
