Since we have a lot of Texans here, I thought they might be interested in the article linked below from the Water Wise newsletter I receive as an Austin utility customer. It focuses on Central and South Texas because that's where the drought has been the worst.

This drought has definitely been bad enough to stand out in my memory of 26 years living in Central Texas. I will be glad to get rain, even more than normal, this autumn and winter. I don't know if we'll be able to afford making improvements to our landscaping, but the rain would ensure new plantings make a solid start and help keep the water bill down.
