Anyone following this case closely (read: 3 people, among them Ted himself) had to see this coming: Ted Stevens' conviction on 7 counts of corruption charges has been overturned due to misconduct by the prosecution, including concealing notes from an interview with their key witness in which the witness contradicted his in-court statements.
Of course Alaskan Republicans, including good ol' Palin, wasted no time in insisting that Senator Mark Begich, the Democrat who won Stevens' seat less than a month after Stevens was convicted, step down to allow a new election. Of course, Begich is refusing.
