Thousands of people had waited for hours to get in, and they closed the gate just as my wife and I were getting close. There was a notion that some more people might be let in, and people were trying to edge closer and closer. When it seemed some people were trying to cut the line, the people who had waited became very agitated and pushed more and more forward. We were getting squished! A woman was crying out that she had a baby and was getting crushed. It was pretty scary!
I think the stores themselves have some culpability here. This isn't the first time someone has been trampled. These morning sale promotions create a dangerous atmosphere. They ought to have police on the scene.
