Today, Bush authorized negotiations between the US and North Korea, to get them to stop pursuing nuclear weapons. After years of doing nothing and allowing the situation to escalate, Bush finally decided that diplomacy was the best thing afterall...except that now North Korea has raised the stakes.

The deal that Bush is putting on the table is almost identical to the one Clinton made with the dysfunctional country in 1994....the same plan that the Bushies and the Rush Limbaugh dittoheads denounced as naive, stupid, failed, et cetera. You'll recall that North Korea had been secretly violating the 1994 agreement. Well, that's the deal that Bush is putting back on the table. Except this time, North Korea is in a better bargaining position. They probably won't accept the same deal. They'll demand more.

Isn't that just great? =/

The Bushies strut around arrogantly for the last few years, saying how the Clinton method was a failure and acting as if they have better ideas for how to handle North Korea.... so much time passes, and today we all learn that they have no better plans; all they've got is the same damn plan that Clinton used in the 90s. That has to be depressing to Bush supporters. As for me, I never believed they had any better ideas....they never had a clue about how to handle North Korea, and it's been painfully obvious all along. So I'm not surprised.

And before [private] asks (as she surely would have) what Kerry plans to do about North Korea, well, I don't know. The point is, I'm not sure anybody knows what to do....least of all Bush, who for two years seemingly thought that tough-talk would solve the crisis.
