McKINNEY, Texas Feb 14, 2005 A mother who cut off her baby's arms was ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial on murder charges Monday.

Ya think? I think anybody is mentally incompetent after ripping their childs arms off. I am so sick of this, it cannot be said how extremely infuriated I find this shit to be. It seems like a year can't go by without a mother in Texas committing horrifying acts to thier children. For what? Postpartum Depression? Feed me another line because that crap doesn't wash anymore. The father said that she had hinted at what she was going to do, the night before she did it. Does that not reek of premeditation?? And why isn't he being tried in criminal court? Isn't he just as guilty? He freaking called the daycare the next day to have them check on her.

But yesterday, authorities discovered a grisly scene at the family's apartment after the childs father called a day-care center and asked them to check on his wife and daughter. Day-care workers called 911 after talking to the mother; an operator then called Schlosser.

What the hell is that about?

Schlosser's husband, John, told an official with Texas' Family and Protective Services that his wife had referenced a Bible scripture the night before the killing and said she wanted to "give her children to God," according to an affidavit that led a judge to award the agency temporary custody of the couple's two older children.

And this guy regains custody of his two other children? Why? Can anyone answer that?

Despite outward appearances, police and child welfare investigators said they had been to the home before. In fact, Child Protective Services opened a case on the family soon after the birth of the 11-month-old, KXAS-TV in Dallas reported.

They also reported that Schlosser was suffering from post-partum depression and was receiving mental health care. Schlosser was hospitalized for a few days when her husband told authorities she had been acting strangely since the birth of the third child.

Once she was released from the hospital, Schlosser agreed to seek counseling and saw a psychiatrist, said Marissa Gonzales, a CPS spokeswoman.

"When we investigated her case and opened the case up for intensive family based safety services, we referred Mom to services that she fully participated in," said Geoff Wool, Department of Family and Protective Services spokesman. Wool said the state agency conducted extensive monitoring of the case and accompanied Schlosser and her family on some visits to mental health services.
Wool and Gonzales said they could not say whether Schlosser was on medication. The case was closed in August. "At the time we closed the case, we had been assured that mom was stabilized and that she was not a risk to herself or her children," Wool told The Associated Press. Schlosser went through counseling and was prescribed an anti-depressant drug. The case was closed Aug. 9

Obviously they need to redefine the word "assured." Do I think postpartum depression is real? Yes. Do I think it gives an excuse to a parent? Never. I am so tired of seeing these feminazis stand up screaming "She couldn't help it, it was postpartum depression, she needs to be in a hospital." After the murder is committed.

Yeah right. She needs to be in prison. She was living just fine up until the day that she killed her child. She deserves to be in prison to pay a debt to her murdered child. I don't even know if I believe that half these women who profess to have P.D. even really do. I think they don't want to go to prison. I think they're crazy, but then again, I think anybody who commits cruel and unsual crimes is crazy. I don't think that should let them off their punishment though.

I don't know who I'm more mad at, the government agency, religion her husband or her. They're freaking religious zealots to top it all off.

"This absence of grief is either an immature denial of normal human emotions that hover under the surface of his controlled veneer or indicates a true lack of emotion," Long wrote in her report, which a judge sealed last month.

Long's report says Schlosser told her he felt "a little melancholy" about the baby's death but found comfort that she is "praising God" in heaven. He said he was "almost done being very sad when I buried her," the report says. Howard Shapiro, Schlosser's attorney, disputed Long's analysis. "If you think that John Schlosser hasn't grieved, you'd be wrong," Shapiro told the Morning News. Long also wrote that the Schlossers inappropriately relied on prayer and conversations with their minister as Dena Schlosser's mental health declined. She said John Schlosser, 35, should have sought ongoing treatment for his wife. According to Long's report, the Schlossers prayed instead of following up with treatment when Dena Schlosser attempted suicide shortly after the baby's birth.

Child Protective Services investigated Dena Schlosser because she left the baby alone a few days after her suicide attempt. She was found running down the street screaming, saying a spirit was in her apartment.
John Schlosser also lacked emotion at that time, the report says, adding that "he repeatedly told the caseworker that the situation was in God's hands and everything would work out." CPS closed that case in August.

The day before the baby's death, the couple argued in the parking lot of their church after Dena Schlosser said she wanted to give their youngest daughter to God, according to the psychiatric report.
The couple talked about a Bible passage in which a woman promises her baby to God. John Schlosser said the conversation was not unusual because his wife is "very religious but often misinterprets Scriptures."

Where are the people who were supposed to be protecting this child? This baby has gone to god alright. I'm sure an abortion would have been a little bit less painful for the baby..but hey, it's murder. Oh wait, so was cutting off her arms. Yeah, that was murder too.

I can't breathe, it's so...much.
