So, I never use fondant for 2 reasons:
#1: It TASTES BAD
#2: It costs too much
So, I started working at the bakery and I asked if people actually like their fondant, since they do mostly fondant cakes. I was just curious because I'm always hearing that no one really likes it. Well, it turns out, they make their OWN fondant, with marshmallows. Now, I'm not allowed to use their recipes on my own, so I went and found one. Not much to it. 2 TBS of water over 8oz of marshmallows, knead in about 4 cups of 10x sugar, and you've got fondant! I didn't actually use all the sugar, I just kneaded in as much as possible until I liked the consistency. But if you ever want to try fondant at home, this is a great way to do it! I'll be posting the cake I'm making this with soon :)
I think I'll be using fondant more often now!
