I've seen so many people complain about this, but I don't understand why people seem so indignant about this not being reported.
What, because the couple is two women instead of a man and a woman?
I doubt it would have gotten any more coverage for being a heterosexual couple.
The news doesn't like good news--it's just not as sensational, doesn't glue people to the paper/website/TV/radio the same way as any sort of bad news. So, no, we don't tend to hear about the gay or the Israeli or the black or so on and so on heroes. But we also don't tend to hear about the young straight white male heroes so much either. A random car crash, especially on a major freeway, is far more likely to hook people than a hero story.
To me, the frustration of this is that good news is heavily underreported. The fact that it's good news starring a lesbian couple is just an afterthought to me.
